June 18

Heard the CEO went out yesterday with you! Dang, missed that! Hope it was a great run—nice day for it.
I presented to about 150 people yesterday at the HEAL forum put on by the Ottawa Board of Health about how to start a workplace Run Club. We came off looking great because we have something other people can only dream of—executive buy in. So we’re pretty fortunate to be able to do what we do. Let’s run with that.
Yoga on the Hill today
Anyone who wants to join me, I’ll be in the lobby at 12:00 to walk over. Let me know if you’re coming so I wait for you.
Special Speaker Monday, June 24 in Beaudoin
Come out on Monday at noon to meet Sasha Hamid who will present on Posture, Running Technique and Shoes. She’s a chiropractor and healthy living enthusiast.
Spartan Race- next year Team CATSA
Huge kudos to Yen Enge, Michelle Malenfant, Stacey Symons and Rosemarie Morse who recently ran the Spartan Race and LOVED it!
In fact, Yen says, “I am willing to do it every year until the day I can’t do it anymore!” You can’t beat enthusiasm like that! Next year, folks, we’re doing a team of warrior-spirits for the Spartan race. Here’s the Spartan Race video for whoever that is interested in doing it next year.
Races
For information on upcoming races, check out our Run Club blog race page. I try to keep it current with interesting races in Ottawa. Note that Prison Break (5K, kinda like a Spartan race) is coming to Ottawa on Sept. 14. Let me know if you want to get a Prison Break team together (need 4 to 12 members) cuz that one looks pretty amazing, too. There was a recent groupon for it that I sent around in an email, too.
We’re still taking participants for a team of fun-loving runners for the Run or Dye run which was a heckuvalot of fun last year. Let me know and I’ll give you deets.
Tapering, strength training, nutrition strategies
Great articles here on strength training, tapering, race tips, nutrition, etc.
Olympic Day
Sunday, June 23 is Olympic Day. Celebrated around the world—hundreds of thousands of people get moving. “All you need is YOU to get active on Olympic Day!”
