Special Speaker Andrea Moritz- Running Across Gambia and Beyond

Andrea Moritz started running in her early teens and hasn’t slowed down since. She ran the NYC marathon for the first time in 1996, and has competed in numerous 42.2K marathons in Europe and North America.

Andrea began competing in triathlons while in Halifax and Ottawa, competing in two age-group World Championships (NZ and Hawaii). In 2008, she began ultra-distance running. Since then, she has successfully complete three Comrades Marathons in South Africa (89 K). She was the fastest participant from North America in 2009. Andrea is currently the Canadian Ambassador for Comrades in South Africa. Recently, Andrea placed 2nd female competitor in the 100K Rӧntgenlauf in Remscheid, Germany and 7th for female competitors in the JFK 50 Mile Run in Maryland.

Just back from running the 6 Foot Track 45K in Australia (billed as the toughest marathon in Australia, by the way), Andrea has many photos to share with us. And while she was down under, she ran the Wenches and Convicts 25K in Tasmania—why not?

When she’s not running ultramarathons, Andrea works as Communications professional in Ottawa. She loves to travel and has many photos to share of her experiences running and travelling all over the world.

Come out and meet this intrepid runner, traveller and philanthropist on Friday, May 17 at noon in the Training Room. Bring a colleague—learn what happens when you can run across a nation and beyond.

Brought to you by the Social Committee Run Club. Be fit. Be social. Run with us!
