This week in Run Club, May 6 to May 10

Hi Runners,

Wow!! What a gorgeous day for a run!

Here’s what we’ve got coming up this week:

Tues-We run! It’s 22C out there and sunny—we need more days like this!

Thurs-We run (but might rain so bring a shell)

Fri- WOW!!! Special Speaker, Olympic marathon runner, Dylan Wykes. Noon. Training Room. Bring a colleague!

Expression of gratitude

Dylan Wykes suggested that if we want to thank him for presenting, we can do so by contributing to this wonderful cause—giving underpriviledged kids the opportunity to learn running http://run4change.net/

You can also show support by running on Wed., May 15. Bushtukah in Kanata is hosting an easy 5K social run on Wed., May 15 at 6:00 p.m. for Run4change. I'll be attending and would love to have others from the Run Club show up to support this cause and say thanks to Dylan for coming out on Friday. Mizuno will have demo shoes if anyone wants to try them.

Run Club T-shirts!

I’m working on getting us Run Club tank tops in red with a white logo. They will be technofibre so good for summer running. Let me know if you are interested. I think our group would look amazing out on the trails with matching shirts! Price will be around $25, but I’ll keep you posted.

Get your kids running

Check out this great 5K get running program for families from ParticipACTION. (Good luck with that—my teens preferCall of Duty and Assassin’s Creed, but maybe other people have better success.)

Beats per minute site

Jason found a site that will tell you how many btm your favourite running tunes are. According to Chi Running coach, Eric Collard, 90 bpm is optimal for efficient and injury free running.

Note: The site is a bit fussy. You have to enter BOTH fields with the name of the artist first, then the name of the tune.

See you at 12:05 in the lobby! Drink plenty of water—it’s important to stay hydrated in the heat.
