Special Speaker Series


This year we have an epic line up of a.ma.zing speakers!! We are so fortunate! Here are the presenters we have confirmed so far:

April 18- Eric Collard- Topic: Injury-free running. Eric is living proof he knows what he's talking about. He's had some major injuries, but didn't let that keep him from running in over 50 marathons, coaching and teaching.

April 24- Peter Way from Sports 4- Topic: Spring and summer running gear and footwear. These guys are great and they are conveniently located just down the street!

May 10 - Dylan Wykes- Topic: TBD. Dylan ran for Canada in the 2012 London Summer Olympics marathon with a time of 2:15:26. His time in the 2012 Rotterdam Marathon was 2:10:47! Mind boggling!

May 17 - Andrea Moritz Topic: Run across Gambia. In 2011, Andrea ran 424K across the West African nation of Gambia to raise money for health education for Gambian youth. It was the run of a lifetime. Andrea will share her experience with us and what she learned along the way.

May 22- Karen Meades- Topic: TBD. Her presentation last year had the audience slackjawed in amazement! She's just back from running 250K across the Atacama desert in Chile.

June 12 - Linda Houle-Robert - Topic: Sports Holistic Nutrition. Linda will provide us with information on how to eat well for running and for general well-being.

June 24- Dr. Sasha Hamid- Topic: Running Posture. Sasha is a chiropractor so she understands the importance of posture in running. Come out and get some tips to keep yourself injury-free and develop good running form.

Aug. 29- Lara Winnemore- Topic: Smart Strength Training. Lara is a certified personal trainer, yoga instructor and Pilates instructor. She believes strongly in cross training, resotrative care and listening to your body. She'll be with us on a Thursday (we'll run Friday) to talk about optimizing movement for sport performance and everyday life.

September 4- Ryan Grant Topic: Running Biomechanics. Ryan is a certified pedorthist, an elite runner, former professional triathlete, and co-owner of SoleFit, Ottawa. Ryan recently returned from 3 weeks in Ethiopia volunteering at Ya Ya Village, a training facility for endurance athletes. Come out and learn from Ryan about the biomechanics of running and how to improve form.


September 12- Ray Zahab- Ray will just be back from running 2300K across the Gobi desert where he's running 70 to 80K per day for 35 days! He is an inspiration, a motivator, a person who will make you feel that you, too, can do anything!
